Ground beef tacos

Rather than using a boxed taco mix, I decided to make my own meat filling. This was good!

You need hard shell tacos. Or you could use soft too.

2 tsp vegetable oil
1 pound lean or extra lean ground beef
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped (I did not use an onion)
1 tbsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp dried oregano (I always have the freeze-dried, and put in a teaspoon or so)
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 14 ounce can petit cut diced tomatoes, drained (I found an Italian brand, “Mutti,” that was very finely cut and they were so good!)

taco shells
assorted toppings — lettuce, tomato, cheese, bottled taco sauce or salsa

Brown ground beef in a bit of oil with onion until crumbly and no longer pink. Drain fat if needed.

Mix the spices together in a small bowl. Add them to the cooked ground beef and mix till the meat is evenly coated.

Add the tomatoes and simmer a few minutes.

That’s it!
