Chocolate Chip Cookies

This recipe is from the Ghirardelli (premium chocolate chips says the package) package. They turned out very well.

2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
*chocolate chips - see note
This recipe also calls for 1 cup of pecans, but I did not do that.

Line pan with parchment paper (or put cookies on ungreased cookie sheet) and preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In large bowl cream butter (I creamed the butter till fluffy before gradually adding the sugars etc.) with two sugars, eggs and vanilla. Gradually stir flour mixture into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

Shape into 2 1/2-inch balls (i dropped them from a spoon). Bake 9 minutes or until golden (1 or 2 minutes less for a chewier cookie). Let cool 2 minutes, then remove to rack. For my oven, 9 minutes was about perfect.

I got 35 cookies out of this recipe.

*As for the chocolate chips, the recipe calls for the ENTIRE package! In addition to 1 cup of pecans. What? I used slightly more than 1 cup of chocolate chips (the package would have been almost 2 cups). I measured out 1 1/4 cups, and used a bit of the 1/4 cup, but not all. I think they would have been too much chocolate and not enough cookie had I used a whole package.
