Bacon Tomato Scones

2.5 cups flour
1 tbsp granulated sugar
2.5 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp each baking soda, salt, and dried basil
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped sundried tomatoes
1/2 cup crumbled, cooked bacon

Glaze: 1 egg, beaten

Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

In large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and basil. Using pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In small bowl, whisk buttermilk with egg; add to flour mixture. Sprinkle with tomatoes and bacon; stir with fork to make soft dough.

With lightly floured hands, press dough into ball. On floured surface, knead gently 10 times. Pat into rectangle, trim edges to straighten. Cut into 6 squares, cut each diagonally in half to make triangles. Place in pan.

Brush with egg. Bake in centre of 400 degree oven until golden, 18-20 minutes. Transfer to rack, let cool.
