Granola

This is THE granola!! It's originally from Nigella Lawson's Feast cookbook, which was a wedding present from you guys!!! 


Granola

4 cups oatmeal
1 cup sunflower seeds
3/4 cup sesame seeds
2/3 cup applesauce
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
4 tbsp honey
about 1/4 or 1/3 cup golden syrup
3/4 cup brown sugar, not packed
 1 2/3 cup almonds
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp sunflower oil
as many raisins/dried fruit as you want

*other recommendations:
pumpkin seeds
flax seeds
dried cranberries or sour cherries or dried blueberries

Mix everything except the raisins/fruit in a large mixing bowl. Spread the mixture in a large baking tin and turn the oven to about 350 degrees. Give the granola a stir a couple of times throughout. It takes about an hour . But keep an eye on it. Once baked, allow it to cool and add fruit.

The book says you can also make a chocolate and peanut version, using raw peanuts in place of almonds, and adding 25g cocoa along with oats, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds, and then don't include raisins
