Pasta with Tomato, Basil and Olives

400g fettucine or ziti (I had linguine)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves
2 x 14 oz cans peeled tomatoes (i used 9oz diced)
1/3 cup chopped basil
1/4 cup sliced black olives
cracked black pepper and sea salt
pinch sugar
parmesan or goat cheese to serve (i had goat feta)
I also added hot pepper flakes

Cook pasta in large pot of boiling salted water. While pasta is cooking, heat a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the oil, onion and garlic and cook for 4 minutes or until lightly golden. Add the tomatoes, and simmer 4 minutes. Stir through the basil, hot pepper flakes, pepper, salt and sugar. Toss the sauce with pasta and serve topped with da cheese. Delish.
